Area 3 Road Closures
Sheridan BoulevardIn order to continue construction of the Sheridan Bridge and demolish the old roadway between 10th and 14th Avenues, traffic has been diverted onto the new structure on the west side of Sheridan with one lane of traffic in each direction. Crews have begun construction of an identical structure on the east side of Sheridan. Pedestrian traffic will also be routed to the west side.
Federal Boulevard
In order to continue construction of the Federal Bridge and demolish the old bridgebetween Howard Place and Holden Place, traffic will be diverted onto the new structure on the west side of Federal. This operation will require a complete weekend closure of Federal Boulevard.
Complete Closure - At 9 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2010 all lanes of traffic on Federal Boulevard between 10th and Colfax Avenues will close. During this closure, crews will work around the clock to set up traffic control devices and pave the approaches to the new structure. Federal will reopen at 5:30 a.m. on Monday, September 13, 2010.
Partial Closure - When Federal reopens on Monday, September 13, traffic will be routed onto the new structure, with two lanes of traffic between 10th Avenue and Howard Place. Left turns from southbound Federal to eastbound Holden Place and left turns from westbound Holden Place to southbound Federal will still be prohibitied. Pedestrians on the west side of Federal will continue to use the Hazel Court Pedestrian Bridge as a detour route. Pedestrians on the east side of Federal may use the temporary pedestrian bridge at Decatur Street as a detour route.
Decatur Street
The intersection at Howard and Morrison Road has reopened. Decatur Street between Howard Place and 13th Avenue will remain closed until approximately June, 2011 in order to construct the Decatur Street Bridge and accommodate subsequent channel work being performed by the Denver South Platte/Lakewood Gulch Project.
Shoshone Street, 14th Avenue Parkway, and Cottonwood Street
West Corridor Crews will begin setting the girders on the Consolidated Mainline Bridge (CML) at 7 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2010. This activity will require the closure of the north/south streets between Old Colfax Avenue and 13th Avenue (including 14th Avenue Parkway, Shoshone Street and Cottonwood Street). Underground drainage improvements will immediately follow the girder set and will also require the closure of north/south streets between Old Colfax Avenue and 13th Avenue (including 14th Avenue Parkway, Shoshone Street and Cottonwood Street). No street parking will be allowed on 14th Avenue Parkway, Shoshone Street or Cottonwood Street. Business local access will be allowed. All closures and parking restrictions will be in effect for six weeks.
Old Colfax Avenue, Umatilla Street - Cottonwood Street
As part of West Corridor light rail construction, Old Colfax between Umatilla Street and Cottonwood Street will permanently close on Monday, September 13, 2010. Cul-de-sacs will be built on both sides of the closure.
