Crews coming on boardConstruction is ramping up and so are the crews committed to delivering the 2.3 miles of new track on RTD's Southeast Rail Extension project in 2019.
Construction starts on SE Rail ExtensionConstruction is underway on the Southeast Rail Extension. The official groundbreaking ceremony took place May 10, 2016 and actual work officially began May 16, 2016.
Crews are performing utility relocations and excavation on the east side of I-25 south of the Lincoln Station. Construction isn't expected to impact traffic until later in the summer.

Interactive town hall meeting heldRTD Director Gary Lasater (District G) hosted an interactive town hall meeting on April 6, 2016. Participants received the latest information about the Southeast Rail Extension plans and the FasTracks project in general.

Contract approved to extend SE Rail Line in Douglas CountyThe RTD Board of Directors approved a $140 million two-phased contract award to Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Inc. (BBII) to design and build the Southeast Rail Extension. The decision took place during the Board of Directors meeting July 28, 2015. Design will begin during the fall with construction expected to start in spring 2016. Read more.

FTA issues 'Finding of No Significant Impact' documentThe Federal Transit Administration issued a decision in October 2014 relating to the Environmental Assessment for the Southeast Rail Extension project. It says that it finds no significant impact.
RTD Board: Move forward with Southeast Rail Extension
The RTD Board of Directors gave the go-ahead to move forward with an additional transit project - the Southeast Rail Extension in Douglas County.

At the regular Board meeting July 15, 2014, the RTD Board authorized an extension of the existing Southeast Light Rail Line farther south into Lone Tree.
RTD delivers design plans to SE stakeholdersIn a sign of progress for the Southeast Rail Extension, RTD staff delivered 65% advanced basic design plans of the 2.3-mile extension on Thursday, March 6, 2014. Stakeholders, including the Colorado Department of Transportation, the City of Lone Tree, Coventry Development and the Rampart Range Metro District will review the plans and make comments.
Partnerships focused on ways to make progress on FasTracks projects that still need to be completed will continue to be a priority for RTD in 2014. RTD is working with stakeholders of the Southeast Rail Extension on how to move forward with those projects in the best ways possible. Recently, RTD General Manager and CEO Phil Washington, RTD board members and staff met with community representatives along the Southeast light rail corridor to collaborate on ways to identify funding to complete the extension project.
Southeast Rail Extension project accepted into federal grant processThe Southeast Rail Extension Project was accepted into the Project Development phase of the Federal New Starts Grant Funding process. Over the next two to three years, RTD will be required to submit additional information and be subject to further review with FTA.
