RTD and Stakeholders Narrowing Focus on Solutions for Northwest Area
DENVER, July 31, 2013 - The Regional Transportation District (RTD) and Northwest metro area communities took a major step forward in the Northwest Area Mobility Study yesterday. The group agreed to focus the study on a specific set of transit alternatives that could bring commuter rail and/or other transit improvements to Northwest communities sooner than current projections for when RTD could complete the Northwest Rail Line to Longmont.
RTD's Small Business Program Exceeding Many Contracting Goals
DENVER, July 29, 2013 - Small and disadvantaged business opportunities are reaching beyond the established goals set on many of the Regional Transportation District's (RTD) contracts. RTD has exceeded its contracting targets for many small and disadvantaged contractors and subcontractors with awards totaling $480
million on base system and FasTracks projects such as the West Rail Line, Union Station in Denver, the I-225 Light Rail Line and the Eagle P3 commuter rail project.
Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Vehicle on Public Display
DENVER, July 22, 2013 - As part of Regional Transportation District's (RTD) public education on bus rapid transit (BRT), an example of a BRT vehicle will be on display this week in downtown Denver and in the northwest service area. This vehicle is just one of many types of BRT buses available.
First track installed along East Rail Line
Denver, July 15, 2013 - RTD's contractor for the East Rail Line, Denver Transit Partners (DTP), is installing the first
track toward Denver International Airport along Peña Boulevard. The media is invited to attend the event on Wednesday, July 17, 2013.
Opening date for Union Station Bus Complex set for May 9, 2014
DENVER, July 11, 2013 - RTD announces the opening date for the Denver Union Station Bus Complex as Friday, May 9, 2014. The 22-bay underground bus station will replace RTD's current Market Street Station, which will close permanently when the Union Station Bus Complex opens.
"This is another example of how RTD continues to successfully manage mega projects, serve as a positive role model and lead the way for other transportation agencies across the nation, " said Phil Washington, RTD General Manager. "The success of our projects takes a total team effort between RTD and its
partners." Opening activities will occur on Friday, May 9, and bus service at the new bus terminal will begin on Sunday, May 11.
Poll Shows 85 Percent of Denver-area Residents Believe FasTracks Still a 'Good Decision'
DENVER, July 3, 2013 - Transportation improvement and the reduction of traffic congestion and air pollution are the main reasons 85 percent of Denver-area residents believe the Regional Transportation District's (RTD) FasTracks program was a good decision, according to a recent public opinion survey of residents living in the eight-county metropolitan region.
