CAC History

On April 22, 2004, the RTD Board of Directors adopted Resolution No. 5, Series of 2004, calling for the creation of a FasTracks Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC). The Board of Directors approved the structure for the CAC including its mission and function, the duties and roles of its members, the selection process for members, and organizational and meeting procedures for the Committee on December 13, 2005. The CAC advises RTD  on matters relating to the implementation of the voter-approved FasTracks.

Membership on the FasTracks Citizens Advisory Committee
In December 2008, the Board of Directors expanded the CAC from eleven to
seventeen members. All members are residents of the Regional
Transportation District. Members of the committee are appointed to three
(3) year staggered terms. Terms may be renewed once without public
advertisement of a vacancy. RTD employees and Board members, their
immediate family members, and other elected public officials are not
eligible for membership. Criteria considered by the Board for
appointment to the CAC include:
  • Broad representation of stakeholder interests

  • Geographical representation within the District

  • Demonstrated interest in public transit and/or the FasTracks Plan

  • Previous community service
