Nancy grew up in Brooklyn, New York and went to Sarah Lawrence College.
After graduation she moved to rural Maine with her husband. They built their own home and raised their family in Maine.
The couple moved to New Orleans a few years ago.
Nancy considers herself a collage artist. Her designs are research based and full of
information. They often deal with a sense of place, and include historic and
contemporary photos, maps, manuscripts, flora and fauna, archaeological material
and more. She has been working with glass and light since the 1970s.
She has been creating art for the public sector since the mid-1980s.
Before that she created autonomous panels showing them in galleries in New York City, Westchester County, New Jersey, and Maine. Public art projects have given her
the opportunity to create on a larger scale and for broader audiences.
Nancy has been able to take her fascination with the beauty and strength of nature
and interweave it with studies of place and the passage of time.
Nancy enjoys making pieces that reach a lot of people that give them something intriguing to look at and think about.
