Red Rocks College Station

Aphidoidea [ey-fid-o-ahy-dee-uh] is a Los Angeles-based, multi-disciplinary design, art and architecture collective led by Andrew Hernandez, Jackie Muñoz,
Jesus Eduardo Magaña and Paulina Bouyer-Magaña.

Oriented by an avid interest in supporting and strengthening public space and its effects, the collective creates site-specific art installations designed to encourage public engagement and enhance the built environment in otherwise generic or
marginalized spaces.

Aphidoidea has a strong background in repurposing and enhancing city buildings and infrastructure, to the temporary transformation of unoccupied storefronts in the inner city and event-based art installations.

The projects developed by Aphidoidea bring together the specificity of site, concept,
materials, and interactivityThey blur the lines between art, design, architecture,
and technology to create site-specific, interactive public artworks.

Aphidoidea has designed work for the City of Long Beach Arts Council, Phantom Galleries, Inner City Arts, LA-YMCA; Boca Raton Museum of Art in Florida; and Black Rock City in Nevada.

This year, the collective is currently working on public and private commissions for Coachella Music and Art Festival, Glow Santa Monica, Scottsdale Public Art, and Storefronts Seattle, as well as RTD's Red Rocks College Station.
