Signs of Construction: Teaming Up to Give Back
Many get caught up in the glitz and glamour of the holiday season, but the Aurora Line/I-225 Rail project team has not forgotten the true meaning of this joyful time of year-to give back to the community. Contractor on the Aurora Line/I-225 Rail project, Kiewit Infrastructure Company, and RTD reached out to various organizations during the holiday season including Comitis Crisis Center, Colfax Community Network, Food Bank of the Rockies and RTD's Operation-Give-a-Gift:
Former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill said it well when he said "we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
- Kiewit donated $1,500 to Comitis Crisis Center, a homeless shelter in Aurora. The money went towards hygiene supplies for the homeless. Many team members volunteered to put these hygiene kits together.
- Kiewit partnered with the Colfax Community Network, which serves homeless children along Colfax. The Kiewit team made monetary donations and brought in toys, games, stuffed animals, etc., which will surely brighten the day of many children within the community.
- Kiewit and RTD organized a canned food drive competition to support Comitis Crisis Center and Food Bank of the Rockies. Thousands of cans were donated.
- Kiewit and RTD participated in the Operation-Give-a-Gift, which benefits children, young adults and seniors throughout Warren Village, Denver Inner City Parish, Brookshire House and State Veterans Home at Fitzsimons.
The I-225 team did just that this holiday season: Working together to give back.
