First commuter rail cars arrive in DenverRTD's first 4 commuter rail cars have arrived from the assembly plant in Philadelphia in November. They have been arriving at the rate of about four per month since then. The cars are kept at the new commuter rail maintenance facility just northwest of where I-25 and I-70 intersect.
Activity at the Moffat Flyover Bridge
The Gold Line's Moffat Flyover bridge is an "S" curved structure that will take the Gold Line trains up and over from the north side of Union Pacific Railroad's Moffat Line - the tracks that lead up to the Continental Divide and the Moffat Tunnel - and down to the north side of the BNSF Railway's Golden Line, which goes through Olde Town Arvada and on to the Ward Station in Wheat Ridge.
This is the point where UP and BNSF, which run in the same corridor east of here, diverge.
Watch video: Fly over the Gold Line Enjoy a nice ride as seen from the cockpit of a helicopter over the entire Gold Line. The route runs 11.2 miles from Denver Union Station to Ward Road in Wheat Ridge. Full construction is underway on the project and you'll be able to start riding the commuter trains on the Gold Line in 2017.
