EIS Process and DocumentsIn September 2006, the Regional Transportation District (RTD) began a comprehensive study of transit alternatives for the North Metro Corridor. The RTD and the North Metro Rail Line Team are proud to announce the completion of the North Metro Rail Line Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS). This document represents more than four years of in-depth project development, evaluation, refinement and public outreach.
Extensive community outreach and participation has enabled the North Metro Team to identify a Preferred Alternative, alignment, station locations and vehicle technology to effectively implement commuter rail transit within the North Metro Rail Line between Denver Union Station and 162nd Avenue in Thornton. Once completed, the North Metro Commuter Rail Line will improve mobility, enhance regional connectivity, and serve existing and new transit users while supporting community and regional plans.
The North Metro FEIS was made available for public review and comment between Jan. 28 and March 1, 2011. Public and agency comments were summarized in the Record of Decision (ROD) document and was signed by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) on April 22, 2011. With the completion of the North Metro ROD, all FasTracks rail lines will have completed the environmental planning phase and are all ready to be released for construction.

- Record of Decision (April 22, 2011): This Record of Decision (ROD) summarizes the FTA's decisions regarding compliance with relevant environmental requirements, describes the mitigation measures to be included in the project, summarizes public outreach and agency coordination efforts, responds to substantive comments received in response to the FEIS, and presents the Section 4(f) and 6(f) determination for the project.
- North Metro Final EIS (Jan. 28, 2011): The Final EIS contains the North Metro Rail Line team's final recommendation and analysis on the alternative selected for final design and construction and includes responses to public and agency comments on the Draft EIS.
