Light Rail Maintenance FacilityRTD expanded the agency's existing Elati Light Rail Maintenance Facility to accommodate the additional light rail maintenance needs after the purchase of more trains for the West Rail and I-225 rail lines.
Elati light rail facility larger The Elati Light Rail Maintenance Facility was originally built as part of the Transportation Expansion (T-REX) Project completed in 2006. As part of the FasTracks Program, the maintenance facility expanded to accommodate the additional light rail maintenance needs as the light rail system grew because of FasTracks.
The facility is located at 2701 S. Elati St. in Englewood. In the first phases of the expansion project, RTD added more storage track and upgraded the electrical systems that provide power for the light rail vehicles. The third and final phase added a new wash bay, paint booth and areas for parts storage.
RTD doubled the light rail operational capacity by the time the Elati LRT maintenance facility expansion project was finished in summer 2011. That made it possible to accommodate the expanding FasTracks light rail fleet with the ability to store more than 200 vehicles at the facility.
