Elati Light Rail Expansion project underway

The Elati Light Rail Maintenance Facility was originally built as part of the Transportation Expansion (T-REX) Project completed in 2006. As part of the FasTracks Program, the maintenance facility is expanding to accommodate the additional light rail maintenance needs as the light rail system evolves through the program.

RTD is currently entering into the third and final phase of the planned expansion of the facility, located in Englewood. In the previous phases of the project, RTD added more storage track and upgraded the electrical systems that provide power for the light rail vehicles. The third phase will add a new wash bay, paint booth and areas for parts storage. Upon completion of all three phases of the expansion - scheduled for summer of 2011 - RTD will have doubled the Light Rail operational capacity and will be able to accommodate the expanding FasTracks Light Rail fleet with the ability to store more than 200 vehicles at the facility.
