Florida Station - Koryn Rolstad
Title of Art: "Our Community Dance"Artist Koryn Rolstad project is a mural and sound for the pedestrian bridge over I-225 at the Florida Station.
"The public art installations I have produced are interactive and site-specific with the intent to convey a community voice and iconic appeal. Combining the philosophies of art and design construction, I use strong forms, images, and lighting to emphasize architecture and natural surroundings," Rolstad said.
"My main focus for 'Our Community Dance', for the Florida Station Pedestrian Bridge installation, forms an interactive language that is joyful, accessible and acts as a visual identity that has the opportunity to constantly change throughout the day and seasons."
You will see Human movement, animal movement and the changing movement of the skies in this artwork. There will be music and sounds designed to fit into the themes of the art.
"I truly feel that 'Our Community Dance' builds an experience that will be enjoyed and seen differently every time experienced by all," Rolstad said.
The art will be printed on clear film and installed on the existing clear panels inside the pedestrian bridge. Click on the images in this post to see larger versions of them.
Koryn Rolstad's studios© are based in Seattle. She has an education from the University of Washington in fine art, architecture and engineering.
"I approach each installation as an architect, with a vision for the structural details of the work. Designing a project and how it fits with its surrounding architecture and natural environment is an essential part of my voice," she said.
"But, the heart of each project and how it relates to the public, who will see and live with it when all is done, is created from the soul and emotion of an artist."
