U.S. 36 bus riders weigh in on preferred buses for BRT service
DENVER, November 25, 2013 - An overwhelming majority of Regional Transportation District (RTD) bus passengers who ride daily along U.S. 36 said they preferred to ride in an over-the-road coach bus, versus a vehicle with low floor and fast boarding characteristics, according to a new ridership survey by RTD.
Eighty-six percent of current passengers surveyed said they preferred riding in a coach-type bus and placed the most value on a smooth, quiet ride and space for their belongings. The findings are important as RTD staff considers a bus vehicle design for the planned U.S. 36 bus rapid transit (BRT) service between Table Mesa Park-n-Ride in Boulder and Union Station in downtown Denver.
2013 Telephone Town Hall meetings reach thousands, RTD Directors connect with constituents
DENVER, Nov. 15, 2013-A total of 48,625 residents from the eight-county Regional
Transportation District (RTD) participated in the agency's 2013 Telephone Town Hall meetings, which allowed them to pose questions to district directors and RTD staff, submit comments and suggestions, and use their telephone keypads to respond to instant polls.
RTD Staff Recommends GBBH Proposal to Build North Metro Rail Line to 124th Ave.
DENVER, November 5, 2013 - The Regional Transportation District (RTD) staff recommended to the RTD Board of Directors tonight to move forward with a proposal from Graham, Balfour Beatty, Hamon Constructors (GBBH) to design and build the North Metro Rail Line to 124th Avenue. The proposal commits to completing construction of the line to 124th by January 2018.
