Gold Line Stations

The Gold Line has seven proposed stations, including stops at 38th, Pecos, Federal, Sheridan, Olde Town, Arvada Ridge and Ward Road.

During the Environmental Impact Statement, RTD will define and evaluate the "footprint" of each station (e.g. where the platform, parking, bus drop-off and kiss-n-Ride will be located) and will develop preliminary design work.  The local jurisdictions are responsible for planning the areas surrounding each station. For more information on the local municipalities' development plans around the Gold Line stations, please view their web pages from our Related Links page.

The Gold Line Team has worked extensively with community members and local governments to develop its current station plans.  Issue Focused Teams were held in April 2007 to discuss preliminary station locations and gather public input. The station layouts were further refined at Issue Focused Team meetings in August 2007 and March 2008.

Below is a chart summarizing each Gold Line station.  To view a map of the proposed station layout, click on the station's title. You will notice that some stations still have multiple options.  RTD will select final station locations in late 2008, prior to the release of the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS).

 STATION NAME
OPENING DAY PARKING TOTAL PARKING SPACES IN 2030* NOTES
38th Station - Railroad Route Option 5001,695 This option will be utilized if the railroad route is selected between Denver Union Station and Pecos. The conceptual footprint depicted is currently being updated to the same level of design shown for the other stations.

38th Station - East 39th Avenue Option

500

1,695
This is the more southern of two station options being evaluated for the East Direct route between Denver Union Station and Pecos. This option is two blocks closer to neighborhoods to the south, but has poorer vehicular/bus access due to its proximity to the intersection of 38th Ave. and Fox St.

38th Station - East 41st Avenue Option
*Recommended Option

500

1,695
This is the recommended option for this station. It is more northern of two station options being evaluated for the East Direct route between Denver Union Station and Pecos. This option is two blocks further from neighborhoods to the south, but has better vehicular/bus access by being located further from the intersection of 38th Ave. and Fox St.
Pecos East Station Option
*Recommended Option
300700* The Pecos East station option appears to have better accessibility and would provide a transfer point to the Northwest Rail corridor. It also has fewer property impacts. However, this station location is contingent upon Adams County completing a grade separation at Pecos.
Pecos West Station Option 300700The Pecos West station option would not allow for a transfer to the Northwest Rail corridor. If Adams County is unable to complete the Pecos grade separation project, it provides an alternative location.
Federal Station 300700 The Federal East station option was selected as the preferred station location because Adams County indicated that the east option better supports its future plans.
Sheridan Station 300670 There are a number of track- engineering challenges in the vicinity of this station that drive the location of the platform.  Analysis shows that providing parking to the north of the station provides optimal vehicular access.
Olde Town Station 500 (includes 200 spaces at existing park-n-Ride)
650The Olde Town North station option was selected as the preferred station location because it provides close access to the station platform, has strong community support and provides ample opportunity for future parking expansion.
Arvada Ridge Station 150200 RTD is evaluating a surface parking option and a structured parking option. The structured parking option is contingent upon a partnership with a private developer.
Ward Road Station 200775 This station was shifted slightly further east to allow additional space to stage early-morning trains awaiting departure for Denver Union Station. Moving the station to the east also allows for the possibility of a future westward extension of the line over Ward Road.

* The Gold Line Team will build sufficient parking to meet the demand at each station. In order to avoid unnecessarily overbuilding parking at opening day, RTD will monitor the capacity of each park-n-Ride to determine when additional parking is needed. The 2030 numbers reflect the projected future parking demand at each station.
