The "married pair" of electric trains operated for the first time under their own power using the overhead electrical system to come into the new Denver Airport Station platform.
This is part of powered testing of RTD's East Rail Line, scheduled to open for passenger service next year.
The commuter trains use 25,000-volt AC power from overhead lines to operate, different than RTD's 750-volt DC system that powers its light rail trains.
The Airport Station platform is at the base of the new Westin Denver International Airport hotel that is being constructed as part of the DIA Hotel and Transit Center program.
